symantec exec back up 2012Recently I attended a Symantec training session, which mostly concentrated on Symantec Backup Exec 2012. It was an absolutely fascinating educational session. Speaking from experience “this is what I’ve noticed” – backing up to the cloud is about to get a whole lot easier as Symantec Backup Exec 2012 now includes modules for simple off-premise cloud backup. This also allows for combining local and cloud-based backup, providing the optimal solution for users or servers with large data files. The data is encrypted and can be restored to any Internet-connected laptop, desktop, or server. Or it can even be backed up directly to the cloud without the need for additional hardware.

Since server virtualization has taken IT by storm, IT organizations often struggle to find the best methods for protecting virtual machines. Backup Exec 2012 takes up that challenge by backing up 100% virtualized environments. In addition, the new user interface is completely redesigned and is light years away from the previous version. With a wealth of new features and ease of use, it also presents a totally new management console that simplifies and streamlines the entire backup process. Installation is fairly simple but blurs the distinction between physical and virtual servers, taking a resource-centric approach that concentrates less on the job and more on what’s to be protected. It accelerates the creation of protection plans by reducing the number of steps required, and makes it easier to include multiple backup stages using various media.

So do not play Russian roulette with your valuable data. Backing up your data is one of the few steps in a journey of a thousand miles for protecting that data. Mantralogix and Symantec backup Exec 2012 can assist you in taking those necessary first steps in your journey and beyond to help you to sprint to the finish line!
